I'm quite a mutt and proud of it! Half of my Ancestry is Ukrainian and one quarter Scots. The rest is a mix of English and Jersiaise, with a little Welsh thrown in for seasoning. Unfortunately because of language issues and lack of records availability, progress finding information on my Ukrainian ancestors before they came to Canada is very slow work indeed. It's also complicated by an apparent name change after WW1 to make the name conform to the system of the new Polish rulers; Stronski/Stronska is definitely a Polish name but my ancestors were definitely Ukrainian!
As far as I know there isn't a single Highlander among my Scots ancestors. So don't expect any Tartans or Clan Badges. There were many coal miners, a couple of weavers and a couple of joiners. No Reverends or Lairds. Among the ancestors to the south of Scotland there is a more mixed bag of occupations. A couple of hatters (wonder if they were mad?), carters, carmen, quarrymen, gardeners, dock workers, a civil engineer and even a farmer or two. A lot of them lived in London's East End in places like Poplar, Bow, Shoreditch and Bethnal Green. Others lived in Bristol and Norfolk and Kent and Wales. And in Jersey there were some farmers, carpenters, a coal merchant and likely a couple of sailors. Still no "Gentry" amongst them.
You are very welcome to browse my little site and I hope you find something interesting. I would love to hear from anyone who is connected to anyone in the tree. Even just a note to say who you are related to and where you live. You don't have to provide any information but I would surely appreciate getting it if you wish to give it. If you wish the information you provide to remain private I will abide by your wishes. All information, except names, of living persons is viewable only by registered users. All sources are shown only to registered users. Registered users have the ability to download "clippings" from the site in a Gedcom format file to import into their favourite genealogy software. Well PGV was a good application for running this site for the past several years but it is no longer being actively developed so I decided it was time for a change. Therefore the site is now running webtrees - Web based Family History Software. If you were familiar with the old PhpGedView software you shouldn't have much trouble with Webtrees. It is based upon the foundations of PGV and many PGV developers now develop Webtrees.
I was also a bit tired of that same old blue design all of the time so I whipped up a new look, You can change the colour-scheme by using the "Colour Palette" dropdown box in the top-right part of the screen. Hope you like at least one of the designs :-)
If you have any questions please contact me and I'll do my best to help.

Pierre Le Gros + Isabel Le Coutour These are my 10x great-grandparents. They are the peak of what I know about my ancestry on Jersey. |
Thomas Tillett + Joanne … My 11x Great-grandparents. They are the eldest generation of my Winterbourne, Gloucestershire ancestors that I know anything about. I'm not sure what Thomas did for a living but his descendants include quarrymen, comb polishers, farmers and even a very famous Socialist MP, Ben Tillett. |
Thomas Spence + Janet Jack Marriage June 19, 1666 Dysart, Fife, Scotland My 9x great-grandparents in Dysart, Fife. Thomas' father John is at the very peak of my known Scots ancestry. Thomas' granddaughter Isabel married a Jamphra (Jaffray, Jeffrey) and they moved to Stevenston in Ayr. Isabel's great-granddaughter married a Kilpatrick and their daughter Mary Kelso Kilpatrick married a Shaw. Her son was James Kilpatrick Shaw and, after moving around a bit he moved to Cowdenbeath, Fife where his daughter Jessie married my great-grandfather George Black. George and Jessie emigrated to Canada. |
